Setting up seasons in Scoresaver 2

Scoresaver 2 allows you to create up to 5 "Seasons". A season is a custom date range designed to represent a golf season, e.g. my club's season this year runs from 28th March to 27th September. So, I have defined "Season 2011" as being from 28/03/2011 to 27/09/2011.

To create or edit your seasons:

  • Click "Date Range" at the top of the main screen
  • Click the blue "Setup" link beside the user-Defined Season combo box
  • Setup your seasons as required, entering a description, start date and end date for each one

Now select a season from the drop down list.

Birdie Conversion Ratio

Q.I hit 6 greens today but missed all the birdie putts. However I chipped in for birdie on two other holes where I had missed the green. If I converted 0 out of 6 birdie chances, why is my Birdie Conversion Ratio 33% ?

A. For Birdie Conversion Ratio, Scoresaver includes birdies where you have missed the green in regulation.

You could easily argue a case that your BCR should be 0% as you missed all your 6 chances. However, we took the view that we should include chip-in birdies in the BCR figure. The exact calculation for BCR is

Birdies (or better) scored divided by Greens In Regulation.

If we did not include chip-in birdies, the BCR for the example round would be 0% despite scoring 2 birdies.

How do I delete a course ?

On the Main Screen, go to the Courses tab.

Select the course you want to delete and click the Delete button in the top right hand corner. All rounds, matchplay results, practice sessions and lessons linked to the selected course will also be delete.

Scoresaver 2 and Vista/Win 7: Lost data

If you are running Vista/7 and have Scoresaver 2 installed in c:\program files\scoresaver 2, you can occasionally lose your data. This is because Vista "virtualises" any data files in c:\program files to a different location if User Access Control is switched on (which it is by default unless you've switched it off).

(Note: For Win 7 64 Bit, "Program Files" can be called "Program Files (X86)

This location is C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Scoresaver 2\Data where XXXX is your Windows login name.

The above is a hidden/system folder in Windows so you'll need to change the view options in My Computer to allow you to see and access this folder.

Look in this folder for files called beta.edb or beta.edb0 or beta.edb1 etc. One of these files will contain your up to date data whereas the file beta.edb in c:\program files\scoresaver 2\data, which you would expect to contain your up to date data, will probably only contain the 4 demo players that are shipped with Scoresaver 2.

If you find any of these beta.* files, copy the most recent one to a different folder, then run Scoresaver 2 and click Import and Export. Select the copied beta file and this should import your data.

To avoid any of this hassle, either:
  • Switch off User Access Control
  • Install Scoresaver 2 to a location other than c:\program files.
